Mary's Memorabilia Charity Auction (last updated 05.11.10)

***THIS IS IT FOLKS!!

Mary's Of Course! is having a Memorabilia Auction for charity! There are sooo many cool tchotchkes our customers associate with Mary's Cafe, but all of them aren't going to the new restaurant. So, Mary's mom Nancy, cooked up the idea to have an auction for one of our favorite charities; the The Chittagong Orphanage. Dr. John Sircar was raised in India, educated in America, and returned to help the orphans of his country. His facility has its own primary school where the boys and girls get a good education. These children come from 5 different areas of the country and are being raised to go back and minister in their communities. We have been supporting Dr. Sircar for a few years now, and he has even eaten in MOC when he came to America. (click red text for more info)

So, please come by and place a bid to buy a piece of Mary's Of Course! and support a great charity. All proceeds go to Heart House.

Popeye and his Gang of plushy friends (large Popeye, Sweet Pea, Wimpy, Bluto and two Olive Oyls) have been located atop the Art-O-Mat for quite some time. They've kept company with Pee Wee and usually stayed out of the reach of visiting children. These come in a single Lot, so bid accordingly!

This Laugh-In 1968 thermos has many of the shows catch-phrases in silly 60's lettering. Upon returning from the Philippines, Mary quickly found the funny & fashionable Goldie Hawn and the bizarre hilarity of a man quipping "Verrrrry interesting!" before falling off his bicycle quite delightful. If you're as big a fan of the show as teenaged Mary, you'll want this all for your very own. Better start bidding, cause "here come the judge!"

This Hagar the Horrible large plush doll, arrived one day to join the rest of the cartoon characters stashed around the cafe. He's quite large and cuddly and fairly free of children's sticky fingers. Whether you're just a fan of Vikings, cartoons, red bearded bears or just stuffed plush things; he's the perfect addition to any home!

A classic piece of Mary's memorabilia; this famous random picture has confounded customers and staff alike. Yes, this could be a supper club where they serve suckling pig al dente, or perhaps this is the owner and his wife with their pet porker... When your bid wins, you can make up your own narrative!

Yes, Mary likes Hello Kitty, but she has a cafe and a house full of this stuff! If you're a fan too, you can bid on this single Lot and own HK items previously displayed in the cafe and owned by Mary herself!

Yeah, Mary was given the first Elvis cookbook by her old friend Dido (r.i.p.), and then someone brought in the second cookbook. Then we got Elvis artwork from pinstripers at Heavy Rebel. Then there was the surprise delivery of a lifesize '68 Comeback Special era Elvis display that has ended up living in the women's room stall (and scared the crap out of a number of customers). Well, this collectors box of Elvis Pez dispensers is still sealed and ready to be displayed at your house; just come by and put in your bid!

Yes, Mary's mother frequently served Sweet & Sour Spam when she was a kid. And though it's never been a staple of our menu, Spam holds a place of nostalgic reverence in our hearts. As Spam has solidified it's place among the potted meat products of our nation, new and modern versions have sprung up like "Spam Spread", "Smoke Flavored" and "Spam with Cheese". Perhaps you had noticed these on display and wondered what the story was behind them. Mary's husband saw some Geico money hidden amongst the knicknacks of a diner in Charleston and thought it'd be fun to pass the joke along. So these cans that had been on display from the earliest days of MOC, were recently given a facelift. Make a bid!

Mary sure does love tea. This is a rather large tea brick from China (which is stamped with a temple and stars design with kanji) is still sealed in it's original shrink wrap. The brick has been on display for a number of years near the cash register, out of direct sunlight. The black tea itself should merely be better aged at this point. Whether you need it for your morning cup, or as a conversation piece; we'd love for you to bid on it!

Mary loves Paul Reubens! So, when one delves into charity, one must consider sacrifice. This is the only Pee Wee that has ever occupied the throne on the Art-O-Mat! If you don't own one, and understand just how quintessential a piece of MOC memorabilia this is, we imagine you'll jump at the chance to own THE MOC PEE WEE!

There have been many novelty pens used by customers to sign their credit card slips over the last ten years. None has been more effective or lasted longer than the gigantic fluffy bird pen! Several thousand local people have used this pen, as well as celebrities like Forest Whitaker. A one of a kind conversation piece for sure...what's your bid?

And last (but not least), a plethora of tchotchkes from the top of the glass kitchen wall that kids and adults alike have drooled over! Rugrats dogs and tree, Bert & Ernie bumper cars, a Beatle from the Yellow submarine, a Willy Wonka squirrel, monk on a cellphone squeak toy, Bride of Frankenstein rubber duck, Hey Arnold's girlfriend Helga, a half dozen Ziggy's, miniature cappuccino maker, a wind-up metal snail toy, a Bendy Robot Spy and Boxer, Randall Boggs from the Monsters Inc movie, some Mexican bobbing head animals, a tiny Spongebob in his Krusty Krab uniform, a miniature ceramic cactus rock and armadillos...as well as the much sought after Cardinal salt & pepper shakers, a 50s-style milk cow cream pitcher, several sizes of pewter tea & coffee pots, a kitchen goddess tiara and MORE! Bid, bid, bid!

Thanks for supporting this charity and Mary's Of Course! these past ten years! God Bless.
